Some Chingford Walls: Exhibition & Workshops 20 - 22 September

Some Chingford Walls is a community research project led by local illustrator Rachel Lillie, about everyday heritage and the value we place on seemingly mundane things.

The focus of the project is on a particular type of residential wall familiar to Chingford. Known as ‘burr’ walls, they are made of re-used ‘waster’ bricks from the many brickworks that were once a common part of the landscape. The walls are an important part of our local heritage and a facinating detail of our streets.

We’re inviting residents of all ages to share their thoughts, stories, and any historical information about the walls.

Contribute to a growing visual archive about the walls by taking part in discussions, creative writing & monoprinting sessions or simply drop in to explore or chat.

There'll be a changing display of research and the work made across the three days. Join in to celebrate everyday heritage & the ‘burr’ walls of Chingford. Sign up to a workshop or drop in daily 11-5pm to explore the exhibition or say hello
