Chingford Mount’s Meanwhile and pop-up space – ‘228’

Last Autumn we renovated a derelict shop unit on the high street, the former iconic County Camera’s shop, 228 Chingford Mount High Street to use as a meanwhile space for short term community lead projects. Now named '228' we are running a two year programme of events giving local people and business the opportunity to 'take over' the unit to host workshops, pop ups, creative & community based pop ups and projects. We've engaged thousands of local residents in the programme since we opened the doors in October.

Events have covered a making projects using local waste streams by Blackhorse Workshop and Good Waste, a Christmas sustainable fashion pop up with the Waltham Forest Fashion District, a creative and art residency with Hypha Studios, a youth project with Project Zero and current making and mending workshops. Stay tuned for more over the year end information can be found via this link.
